PICSPAM!

Dear god, C&C. I'm with you less than a month and suddenly you've got me taking pictures of superhero costumes and looking through the dealer's room for comic books. I swear. You're like a rash, slowly taking me over.

This is all from CONvergence in Minneapolis last weekend. Imma post the ones you guys are probably most interested in, the rest are going to end up at cosplay.com probably. XD

So I actually knew some of the costumes this time, thanks to you guys. Mostly in a "oh, we have one of those in C&C" ffff...how pathetic. If I got any wrong, though, I stand to be corrected.

There were Dr. Horribles of all shapes and sizes EVERYWHERE. These guys got the photo because of the kid, really.

CUTEST HORRIBLE EVER

...and I'm told this is Bad Horse?

One of the best Harleys...of another EIGHT MILLION of them, geez.

"Whoa, man, I don't want any trouble here. Really."

Seriously...these two are modeled as Crow T. Robot and Tom Servo. (four MST3K castmembers were guests at the con)

GODDAMN IRON MAN

...I asked him. The armor is all resin-cast. It was nothing short of whoa.

By golly is that Tank?

It was a mingling of superheroes. I was too lazy to get out of my chair and take a real picture.

Holy Venture Brothers, Batman...

Toph is in the Cone of Shame.

...yeah. They were awesome.

And now...a bragging photo of me and my friend:

She's the Queen...I'm the commander holding the BEST IN SHOW trophy.

Best in Show trophies also make good codpieces.

We have more of our costumes in her journal plus a lot of completely random shit (mostly me being an idiot) at the Haven's Only in Cosplay. I tend to make a fool of myself around cameras.

Thanks for putting up with me. :D

...Cap gets tags?

Omg those cosplays are amazing. Who are you guys anyway?

[identity profile] hellcommander.livejournal.com 2009-07-07 06:04 am (UTC)(link)
That's so coool

[identity profile] atoningforsin.livejournal.com 2009-07-07 06:07 am (UTC)(link)
YES!

That Harley is my very good friend Mika. :D

Congrats on Best in Show~

And wasn't the mini Horrible the cutest thing ever? XD

The Tank Girl's BF had a Booga costume but it malfunctioned the first day.

[identity profile] atoningforsin.livejournal.com 2009-07-07 06:16 am (UTC)(link)
Lols. That's why I asked if you'd gone to Cornell - she mentioned that the Queen out of the pair of you was her friend.

I went to the same school, actually. Just graduated. :3

Mika made the costume herself before last years' con. My roommate was gonna do Ivy with her this year, and had the costume, but the Masquerade took up pretty much all of Saturday and she had a hot date that night. She was in the Frankenstein group, as the Bride.

XD sure

though I'm supposed to be asleep by now

[identity profile] rictory.livejournal.com 2009-07-07 06:11 am (UTC)(link)
OH HOLY SHIT THATS THE QUEEN FROM SUIKODEN V

[identity profile] zully.livejournal.com 2009-07-07 06:15 am (UTC)(link)
FUCK YES. /huge Suikoden fan.

I've thought about doing Haswar before.

[identity profile] zully.livejournal.com 2009-07-07 06:22 am (UTC)(link)
Hah, then you might know a couple of friends of mine. I think they play there, and they're like. The only other people I know who are into Suikoden that I didn't force the games onto. Seriously though, V was the first game I really loved since II, and I've seriously considered apping a character at C&C.

God, though, your costumes are reminding me of the bubble scene. :C

[identity profile] zully.livejournal.com 2009-07-07 06:38 am (UTC)(link)
Haha, he's a somewhat local friend. We go to cons and stuff together; he crashed with me at Fanime, and [livejournal.com profile] evil_kimba. Jesus, its like everyone I run into on the internet ends up knowing one or both of them.

kjhkh

I cried, for serious. But then I'm a big blubber-baby and cry at everything.

[identity profile] rictory.livejournal.com 2009-07-07 06:51 am (UTC)(link)
I barely even remember how I met them. I think it was the board for a convention here in Houston.

sdflkj goddddddd. I couldn't even hate Lym. And BOY HOW I TRIED.

I think Roy's my favorite, overall though.

[identity profile] sunfire-ii.livejournal.com 2009-07-07 07:14 am (UTC)(link)
I admit to being a huge softie for Georg too. And Kyle. /secret Sialeeds/Kyle shipper.

kljoi the problem is there are SO MANY CHOICES.

[identity profile] sunfire-ii.livejournal.com 2009-07-07 07:23 am (UTC)(link)
Assuming I picked someone with one of the True Runes. :/ Otherwise I'd just. Have to be kind of arbitrary.

Am I awful for wanting to pick one from V because they'd have prettier icons? Tell me not to app Kyle, please.

[identity profile] zully.livejournal.com 2009-07-07 04:40 pm (UTC)(link)
True. And several of the characters come with default runes that they're just better at-- Kyle has Water, I think, for example.

Oh, V has a manga too. Aw, holy crap. WHY YOU DO THIS.
wolfofmibu: (-- eh?)

VENTURE BROTHERS THAT IS AMAZING

also yes that Dr. Horrible kid is very cute.

... and definitely impressed with the resin-cast Iron Man suit. Wow.

[identity profile] oftwoworlds.livejournal.com 2009-07-07 01:19 pm (UTC)(link)
.... why would you resin cast all of that.

I get making it symmetrical and all but...

/stares

[identity profile] oftwoworlds.livejournal.com 2009-07-08 02:36 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah. It does look pretty darn awesome. I just wouldn't have the patience or budget for that much casting. :0

[identity profile] oftwoworlds.livejournal.com 2009-07-08 02:54 am (UTC)(link)
I've wanted to try vacuum forming and yeah, suits like that, that's normally where I jump too.

Looks awesome but slkdfjlsjdafkjslkjsflajldj money.

[identity profile] zully.livejournal.com 2009-07-07 04:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, see, I was thinking like. Paperclay. :/ Resin casting is awesome for jewels but HOLY SHIT that had to be expensive and time-consuming as hell.

[identity profile] oftwoworlds.livejournal.com 2009-07-08 02:38 am (UTC)(link)
I would just use craft foam and papier mache it, with maybe fiberglass resin on top if I was feeling like an over achiever. It takes a while, but the results are pretty clean looking after some sanding and it's super light.

That being said, I really haven't done that much in paperclay, so that could be a better way to go.
