In another interview, he specifically said Jedi have sex, but relationships are forbidden. Probably to make it so the Jedi are still "cool".

Well, there's the issue of a short term encounter vs. a long term emotional commitment. Looking at it from that perspective, boning is preferable to having a girlfriend or whatever.

YES EXACTLY. The release of sexual tension is totally fine since it keeps you from doing stupid shit, but developing, like, a bond with someone is not okay to the Jedi because OMG BEING ATTACHED ENCOURAGES YOU TO DO STUPID SHIT.

Which is totally not true in every case but the Order really got a little dragged down by its own dogma towards the end and shut up I think about this kind of thing too much okay ;_;
