Wait are there seriously 10 nominees for best picture or is that just like... the current ballot or w/e and it will be minimized later? PERSONALLY I was a huge fan of District 9. I mean, there are movies on there that I thought were more interesting and eye-catching (Avatar, Up, IB), but I think FILM-wise D9 should win. I really REALLY want to see the Hurt Locker but I just need to find a night when I'm OK with being depressed.
I have a feeling best actress is going to be that girl from Precious since it was a HOMGZ GROUNDBREAKING MOVIE ON A CONTROVERSIAL BOOK. Though, it would be hilarious if Meryl Streep won for the 93758235235th time. She was pretty good in that movie too.
Christopher Waltz must win best supporting actor he simply must.
Herrr, once again I haven't seen the Hurt Locker, but female directors don't get enough rep AND TO HAVE ONE DIRECTING A WAR MOVIE is pretty damn awesome. Quinten would be cool too. And Cameron was good but uhhh, I have trouble saying that MOVIES THAT ARE 1000000% special effects should get best director awards IDK.
Visual effects. Avatar will win. There is no question rofl.
NOW THAT THE FOREIGN MOVIES LIST IS OUT I AM GOING TO HAVE TO DL ALL OF THEM OKAY.
i haven't actually seen a ton of movies this year, which is a bummber, but for now i am team hurt locker and IB; hopefully i find some time to watch at least the other best director/best picture nominations. augh i am the worst film student.
Best picture: I want District 9 to win as well, because I thought it was a great story. I think Inglourious Basterds has a chance too, just because it's Quinten and so many people just loved that movie. Best Leading Actor: Morgan Freeman. That's all. Best Supporting Actor: Idk. Best Leading Actress: Lol Meryl Streep. Best Supporting Actress: Idk. Animated Film: Princess and the Frog. I went to see it and it was the best Disney movie I've watched in a while. Art Direction: Avatar, no doubt. Cinematography: Basterds was shot nicely, but Avatar will probably win too. Costumes: Nine. Foreign: No sé. Music: Up! Music (Original): Princess and the Frog. Visual Effects: Avatar. Hands down. Original Screenplay: Basterds.
You know I actually went and saw Avatar and I was bothered by something during the final battle scene to the point where I don't even really remember the final battle scene:
WHERE THE HELL. DID JAKE. GET FEATHERS? NO SERIOUSLY, EVERY ANIMAL I SAW WAS SMOOTH. WHAT THE FUCK IS UP WITH THE FEATHERS?
It was a good movie, yes. Enjoyable, gorgeous to watch, but. It's. Aaaaaargh not that amazing of a movie.

Wow, I've like seen none of these movies. I blame marching band and robotics for stealing my weekends from me. And my friends not wanting to see anything.
Whatever I adore Meryl Streep with a passion and even though Julie and Julia was an enjoyable-but-just-okay movie, Streep was the one who brought everything to life and I just love her so much hrrrrrg. Give her as many Oscars as she can handle because I friggin' love her.
I'm kind of hoping the Hurt Locker wins Best Picture.
IF DISTRICT 9 BEATS OUT AVATAR FOR BEST VISUAL EFFECTS I WILL LAUGH MYSELF SILLY OMG. But it probably won't.
