So this week's Gotham City Sirens wasn't particularly well-written. However, this scene was pretty amusing anyway.

I had to share, of course.
Considering she paid a fortune to have the building remodeled, you think she'd have a nicer bathroom.

I like the colorist(s) March has, though. They're all really nice and soft. I'm a big fan of Tom Derenick, too, but I think he gets overlooked because he really gets stuck with some shitty inkers/colorists sometimes. I love how Reign in Hell turned out and though he did a lot for Shadowpact, it only seems like half of it looked really good (ignoring my dislike of June's new costume, of course).

I agree! His colorist is really nice. I like when they know what they're doing... otherwise I tend to be like god just go simpler if you don't know how shadows work. I really hate when artists get stuck with bad inkers or colorists because it's so hard to tell sometimes, and it reflects badly on the entire body of art. Like... there are some artists I really dislike, but seeing their stuff uninked made me realize it was mostly the inker they had that was awful. My favorite artists all have kind of simple styles that really make the most of the inking so I'm picky about lines, sob.

Yeah, I like Rags Morales only sometimes, too (see: this icon), but his eyes tend to look really creepy if not handled well. Which is... almost always. Which really sucks since he's one of the few artists that don't have a very generic art style. My favorite artist ever (at least comic book wise) has gotta be the late, great Gray Morrow. Now he knew how to do cheesecake properly.

I like Morales' style a lot, but yeah sometimes it looks weird. Not a lot in my opinion, but sometimes expressions just... are off. Be it the eyes or the mouth, for me. I kind of liken it to Mark Bagley and Jim Lee's style sometimes? All three remind me of each other... it might be the inking IDK?? but obviously each one has their own different strengths and weaknesses. He's great at unique faces, though. My favorites are like... haha, Marcos Martin, Javier Pulido, Darwyn Cooke, JRJR, Tim Sale, etc. (I HAVE OTHERS TOO BUT) who are all very line-dependent artists, I don't know why that's so visually appealing to me. Cheesecake-wise I always have to look at Bruce Timm, Dan DeCarlo, and Frank Cho.

Oh, definitely. Jim Lee's art can be a little weird sometimes because of inking (or coloring, like I loved all the art for the DCU Heroes online, but the coloring in them kills it for me).
My current favorites are: Cliff Chiang, Dustin Nguyen (though his faces do have the same problem of inconsistency), Dean Ormston, Dan Panosian, Justiniano, Ryan Sook (his art's really evolved in the past five years), Luca Rossi, and hnnngh Esao Andrews does the best covers. As for cheesecake, my favorite is definitely Gray Morrow (he also draws my favorite Zatanna (http://i54.tinypic.com/14v7al4.jpg)). Phil Noto also draws the only comic nudes I can tolerate/doesn't freak me the shit out.

BUT ANYWAY.
Some of his designs I'm not hugely fond of because... idk, they seem lifeless, but it's really not a frequent problem for me with his art. Because I mean. He's pretty talented.
Man I have so many. I'd link to the list I have on my journal except I haven't updated it in forever, I should go do that...

I do agree with that. They all sort of look vacant, but I feel that way about Ed Benes, too.
DO IT. Also, if you don't read House of Mystery, start. Just to skim through the art, even. hnnnngfffh I will never rec this enough to people
