Why not?

There are places I know from my New York that don't exist here.

Eighty years is a long time, but still, it's unreasonable to suppose that all of them would have been demolished in that time.

Yeah, a really long time. I wonder if I'll even still be alive.

Can I ask what places you're thinking of, mister?

The apartment building where I live. My brother's house. Businesses that my family owns. A bookstore that I've been to many times. Alveare, a store that sells honey.

The buildings, at least, should still be there.

...I checked to see if Alveare was there, too.

[There's a moment of silent consideration on Luck's end.]

[Luck can only hope. Unlike Czes, someone's not used to being without his support structure.]

[Inwardly, Luck debates with himself how much responsibility he can really be expected to take in this situation. If Firo is to be believed, Czeslaw is considerably older than Luck and probably capable of taking care of himself.

This time isn't like what we're used to. It's likely you'll need someone to at least pose as your guardian if you want to be able to come and go when you want.

I've done that before, it's easy. You just tell whoever's asking that your guardian is waiting outside or at your destination.
