a DC dressing room?
HI GUYS RANDOM QUESTION.
If I were to try to start a decent DC dressing room of some kind, would you use it?
... and what would you name it.
If I were to try to start a decent DC dressing room of some kind, would you use it?
➔ BUT JILLI, AREN'T THERE A BILLION OF THESE?What always annoys you about dressing rooms? What kind of differences would you like to see if this did happen? How much setting/what kind of theme would you like? What kind of rules?
No, there are like... 3.5, all of which either aren't really used (to the best of my knowledge! please correct me if I am wrong!) or are infamously terrible.
➔ Why not try to revive one of the existing non-sucking ones?
Well, er, I don't know who runs those. Sorry...
➔ Why only a DC dressing room?
I dunno, I guess it could be all comics! But there are a few of those, too. Don't wanna step on any toes.
➔ WHO ASKED YOU TO MOD OH JESUS
No one did shut up I realize I'm not. Awesome. At modding. Due to a fundamental lack of tact, kindness, patience, etc. But someone else could always do it! I'm really just broaching the subject.
... and what would you name it.

HAHHAHAHAH OH MAN, DCUSWS........................................ there's so much I could say, but I won't.

Everything that annoys me about (comics/DC) dressing rooms is pretty much defined by DCUSWS. UH not that I'm an elitest or whatever. I mean, people can do whatever they want. Fine with me. I just... don't... want to be called a bitch for not tagging you all day, every day. :(

The main problem for me is the "SWS" part. It... just does not encourage quality writing. The original Hemingway six word story is amazing, of course, but nobody puts any thought into the construction of their opening post instead, they play to the limitation like it's a good thing.

that being said, GO FOR IT. I would totally bring my DC muses over.

I'm no help with a name but I'd certainly support a new dressing room. I've got a couple DC Muses aside from Houston I might wanna bring over.
And if they were allowed (which I would love if they were) I've got a DC-based OC or two that'd be cool to be able to bring by somewhere. A general DC universe setting would be awesome...maybe not something jamjary though.

I'm a little tired of jamjars too!

RYAN IS MY FIRST COMPLETELY STRAIGHT MALE CHARACTER, I SWEAR (no he's not but)
everyone else has some sexual ambiguity, only Ryan is like L-LADIES 83

THAT SAID. This piques my interest. ... OH RIGHT, THERE ARE QUESTIONS HERE.
What annoys me is, well. A few things. One, the whole six word story thing, for reasons you've already outlined in comments slkdafjsdlk. Two would be when you get a huge influx of the same character and it's like. Oh my god, we have an infestation. If played right, it can be really interesting, but. Without something like quality control (which I imagine is hard to get in a dressing room) it's hard to do.
Settings and themes are always really helpful, IMHO, even if it's a loose setting. The problem with some settings, though, is eventually people get bored if they can't venture out of the same giant space station or whatever. So maybe putting it in like. Continental United States would give people enough room to mess around and be free, but it's restrictive enough for the people that need restrictions to really feel comfortable.
IDEK what kind of rules would go into a dressing room outside of the general RP etiquette and stuff. Maybe something that's would be like CHILL. IT'S JUST A DRESSING ROOM. Since I've seen DR plots get wild and crazy and out of control. And then people are wild and crazy and out of control and. Yeah. Not fun.
I HOPE THIS HELPS.

Omg, yes. There needs to be PLACES TO GO and THINGS TO DO, but just in a looser capacity.

There aren't 400 Jason Todds in my Marvel one either.
And I'd gladly screw around in a DC one - the dressing room format is one I like now that I don't have time to commit to heavy plotting. I like the free and easy nature to run with whatever.

also I am totally back at dcusws with Robin!Jason, because I apparently like being surrounded by hideous things. You are all free to judge me.

Though I understand why having separate Marvel and DC drs is appealing, too.

No but seriously, that sounds fun. I don't know how much I'd play there, since my new resolution is to read comics that are good and don't make me angry, and well, about DC comics...

A game that recognizes that people have lives outside of their computer would be a very good thing.
Oh, and I really REALLY wouldn't worry about stepping on toes. Even when games have the same premise, they can be very different beasts. There more there are out there, the better the chance that someone can find one that really suits them and their characters.
For the record, I run the quasi-dressing room game

THAT BEING SAID, in general, dressing rooms bother me because I don't get what the hell I'm supposed to do in them. In a real game, I get that there's some objective to chase, and CR to be made but aside from the standard "AHHH I'M IN A JAM JAR AHHH" conversation, I just... Don't know what to do in a DR. So I avoid them.

A DR, I think, is more meant for interaction scenes like the logs I always see Pietro and Angie in :3 not necessarily always that cute, but more for everyday low-key CR with the occasional dramuh thrown in to mix things up/provide something to talk about, as opposed to plot-centered with those other things on the side.
