i hate when people excuse it too with going WELL DC ISN'T MEANING TO BE OFFENSIVE/THEY DON'T HATE MINORITIES, WHAT'S ALL THE COMPLAINING ABOUT

Not sure who that is off-hand, but I do not doubt it.

and see, it only helps that they "don't mean to be offensive" if they change their fucking behavior to counter the fact that hey, running at their default setting without second thought tends to crop up with "oh we love diversity, look how many blue and green aliens we have!"

they really need to either a: start getting a less white, male, straight social circle, or b: just fucking hire a more diverse crew of writers

my basic idea is to get a panel of people of all walks of life to just yell at DC before they put something out every time they spot something that is just completely awful

i think it could do a lot of good

but yeah, shit like all of this across the board failure would get spotted and pointed out pretty much instantly with a panel like that. Perfect world they would hire more writers conscientious of these things, but who knows how long it'd take them to manage that.
