*There's a girl shorter than you with long horns on the sides of her head - but not a troll. She hops up to the tips of her toes.* A city is lively! If it's not busy and lively and merry then I think it's not a city anymore. At least, that's what I've heard!

Are you white jade or green jade?

[Jade blinks a couple times before jumping back with a small squeak. Where the heck did this girl come from? Oh well...it doesn't matter.

She calms down and smiles.]

Huh. I guess so. I've never actually been to a real city before.

And uh...I guess the green kind? I mean I use green text all the time.

*She might have been too small to see. Sometimes she does that. She grins though.* I haven't, either! Well no, that's not correct. I have, but when I used to go to cities none of them looked like this. They were smaller and shorter and more wooden. Or maybe it's that I was bigger back then?

There's other types of jade you could be too! Don't limit yourself by choosing right away.

[dogwitch]

Oh... Well...where I lived before all this was just an island in the middle of nowhere. There wasn't even a town on it.

[Jade shakes her head.] Well Jade is my name. Jade Harley. But I guess if I had to be a type of jade I would be the green kind.

If there wasn't even a town, you must have really lived like a hermit. I knew people who lived on an island once.

If that's what you're picking, then you should keep to it! Green isn't a bad color, anyway.

[dogwitch]

At least I wasn't alone. I had my dog and my grandfather. And I had a computer with internet so I could talk to people. [She smiles.]

I think it's a very pretty colour.

I like... red! And blue. And purple, actually. I like lots of colors.

Even a hermit can have a dog and a grandfather so don't think that disqualifies you. But I've never seen anyone talk using a net before. They mostly use them to fish.

[dogwitch]

[She laughs and shakes her head.] No, no. Not a fishing net. The internet. It's like...this thing that allows you to talk to people all over the world as long as they have a way to connect to it. It's not really a physical thing it just exists inside computers and phones.

[She smiles and hopes the girl gets it.]

Ah, so it exists inside computers and phones? I understand now!

But I don't understand what those are.

[dogwitch]

[Jade holds up her comm. It's close enough to a phone. Heck it's more like a minicomputer which is awesome.]

Most phones now days look something like this. Although this is more like a very small computer. [She opens it up to show the keyboard.] See you use these keys to type what you want to say. Or it looks like you can record your voice instead on these. And even video.

And when you post it other people can see it and respond and you can talk to them even though they might be on the other side of the world.

Is that what it does? I didn't look at it much before! It looked too complicated, and who wants to think about those things? Better to relax and drink sake, I think.

So you can use it to speak to anyone at all? No matter how far away they are?

It can be complicated but once you figure it out it's easy!

Er...well anyone that also has one, yes. It seems to be set for a certain network and not just one to everyone in this world. As far as how far away they are they'd have to be in this world. So it wouldn't work if you wanted to talk to someone back home.

It would be better if it could talk to everyone. Even the people who didn't have them.

I know somebody who had something like this, though, except it wasn't like this at all.

[dogwitch]

Unfortunately it doesn't work that way.

[She raises a brow.] What do you mean?

But it should! You agree, don't you?

Weeeeeeeeell, she had magic yin-yang orbs and left one with us when she went to investigate the underground and hell. We could talk into the orb and she could talk back!

[dogwitch]

It would be nice if it did. Would have made several things easier...

Oh, that's pretty neat.

It was! We could help her out and give advice while we were in her living room eating her snacks and drinking sake. It was a lot of fun.

Heyyy, do you want to drink some sake?

[dogwitch]

[Jade gives an uncomfortable laugh and shakes her head.] No...I uh, I'll pass.

It's not because I'm an oni, right? An oni's sake is as good as anyone else's!

[dogwitch]

Uh...no that's not it. It's because I'm not a drinker. But don't let me stop you.

If you don't want to then you've made a choice, but I think it's a lot of fun myself.

[dogwitch]

[Jade's ears twitch as she adjusts her glasses.] I see.

[She looks around at their surroundings.] I don't think drinking in the middle of sidewalk like this is something you should do. I'm pretty sure cities have laws against drinking in places that aren't designated for it. Or something...

*She's already taking out the purple gourd that hangs from her side and uncorking it when Jade informs her - and she looks absolutely scandalized.* What?!

Why would anybody do something immoral like that?!

[dogwitch]

[Jade cringes and pins her ears back in response to the yelling.] Well because of children. They might get the wrong idea or something. Plus many people can't contain their alcohol and do stuff that could be a danger to everyone around them.

That's a ridiculous rule. I've been drinking for-- *A pause. She seems to be counting on her fingers. Then she shakes her head.*-- I don't even remember how long. So I wouldn't do that sort of thing at all.
