I have a few choice pages to share, with my inevitable commentary. Dini is, of course, quite the fabulous writer and I sincerely recommend buying the book. Especially if you like Gothamites with wayward morals and the amazing that goes with it.

Okay. I thought the art was hit or miss per panel throughout this whole issue, but those gargoyles are hellishly horrific. I don't care if the architectural feasibility is unlikely in design; those are some scary fucking things. I like them.

Heeeeh. Favorite page. Eddie has a tendency to beat people to death when he's shatteringly pissed. I should do a post about that one day. Anyway, given his role in the story thusfar, this was a rather releasing part.

I just love the interaction here. Eddie being his vengeful self, Selina playing the peacemaker, Harley being the cutesy pal, and Ivy not talking at all. Like I said, favorite page.

The title of the book, of course, is GOTHAM CITY SIRENS. GCS. This is the new hideout that Selina bought with her Hush money.

ALSO the idea of an enterprising guy who finds villains their hideouts? Amazing. I love the behind the scene work, I really do. THE BROKER. Someone app him.

And that's Ivy being a creeper.

Yay. And thus a new title is born.

I figured it was just because I can't imagine Selina calling Eddie "Love" like...ever...

Yeaaaaaah, I imagine a lot of the subplots in GCS is going to be Ivy and Selina fighting. Especially once Hush/Bruce shows up. I almost hope they touch on a little of what happened when he was STALKING IVY because she did actually exhibit legitimate feelings for him (granted she did the same for Bruce sooo idk), buuut that's probably not going to happen.

EXCEPT IN KINGDOM COME but that's an Elseworld and doesn't count and it was technically 'dear' so whatever. I just like mentioning it. Because I think it's funny.

Yeah, it's likely not to. I'm STILL waiting on some resolution from HUSH RETURNS like a million years later... However, I hope Ivy has more of a role than merely badgirl antagonist. The spectrum of "good", "neutral" and "bad" is a bit too clean cut, even within their gray lines. Hell, especially within their gray lines.

But I'm merely speculating. Could be surprising.

I'm hoping Riddler cameos again.

I'm cautiously optimistic. Ivy is a sociopath who hates most people and she's obviously the "bad girl" of the book, so I'm...resigned to her being the main sort of antagonist. I'm just hoping there is one story line that involves kids so she can be the good guy for once.

And yes, moar Riddler cameos.

Yeah, I completely agree. Ivy has dimension, and it's nice when that is explored. I trust Dini to work with it, and I think he's merely exploring her darker roots here. But for morally gray femme fatales, I'd be disappointed if Ivy was only the antagonist for the first few arc.

Is it weird that I kinda ship them in an abusive, Eddie is totally screwed way?

She actually was pretty decent up until the whole "Gas Selina" routine and I refuse to believe she went to Zantana strictly to see if she could take Selina. that was just a handy after note.

Considering I also ship her with Hush in a terribly screwed up way? Nah, your fine.

LOOK EDDIE JUST IS REALLY EASY TO SHIP AND IT'S NOT LIKE THE FIRST FIVE ISSUES OF 'HUSH RETURNS' DID ANYTHING BUT SUPPORT THIS.

I'm curious to see how the Ivy/Harley dynamic plays out.

I actually am too, especially since the Joker is apparently out of the picture. They didn't get much this go around except for the usual Ivy-being-slightly-disapproving.

It's true. The only people he could have feasibly topped (because Query and Echo would humor him) are no longer in canon.

AND apparently he's staying out of Gotham for a quite some time. At least a few months hence. Should be very interesting. It's interesting how Harls didn't even try to defend Joker.

From what I've read in interviews, Joker'll be quiet for awhile then return with a bang.
