Sexuality is infinitely complex and variable. It's a subject on which many papers have been published, debates have been waged, hypotheses defended, etc etc etc. NO DEBATES HERE, THOUGH. JUST A QUESTION (WHICH I KNOW HAS BEEN POSED BEFORE BUT IT WAS A REALLY LONG TIME AGO):

If you had to put your character on the Kinsey scale (whether you believe in its validity or not), where would he or she fall? Why?

What I think regarding this kid is too damn complex for the present question; unfortunately, this particular scale doesn't allow for recognizing multiple numbers across the table and/or anything terribly complicated all at the same time. I guess if I had to pin him down as something, I could... jeez, I really can't do this with only one number!

The scale is definitely lacking, especially if your character (or you, really) is someone who views sexuality as something that's fluid/impossible to operationally define. And it really only works for one point in time or multiple points in time without allowing an overall type of analysis.

Fhdflkjdfhdjhfd I always rate my characters using the Kinsey scale, so, here we go, time to get lynched for my headcanon:

► Jason is a 2. He's interested in girls, as canonically shown by his interest in Donna (and Talia?), but to be honest at this point he'd accept that kind of attention from anybody, BUT ONLY IF they got the Mission and were really with him. The chance of that happening for anyone, male OR female, is like. Seriously remote. (WHERE ARE YOU, ROSE.) Because Jason is, um, crazy. Also he doesn't give a fuck about gender roles or stereotypes or gross jokes about Batman and Robin, he does what he wants, and if what he wants to do is another guy, then he'll do it, and fuck everyone else. That said, he's never been with another guy at all and isn't. Really. Aware of his own tendencies.
► Babs is a 1. She is into guys — Jason Bard and Dick Grayson, namely, and she and Ted Kord were flirtatious for a while (bawww). Under the right circumstances I kind of think she would at least consider going gay for Dinah, but probably end up saying no.
► Piper is a 6 and a little X. He is capable of appreciating the female form and he totally makes his own costumes (sometimes in ONE NIGHT, this is canon) so I think whenever he looks at a superheroine he's always like "Hmm, I would go with a different fabric for that" to himself but he's not, like, flamboyant about it. More theater nerd than fashionista. And he doesn't often, like, ogle other men. He's weirdly monk-like about that sometimes. Or maybe just too polite. Or he just keeps it to himself.
► John is a 1. He definitely likes girls and definitely has a problem even being friends with guys. A guy who wants to be friends with John pretty much has to be super laidback and easy-going. He already doesn't know how to act in socially acceptable ways around other guys his age, so it's... unlikely he'd ever want to be with one. Or that he would admit it if he did.
► Timothy Hunter is a 3, though he's too young to know it yet. This is canon from the Books of Magick, which take place when Tim is older and fully in possession of his powers. However, Molly remains the love of his life.

Besides hitting up a giant pile of stereotypes [loves to cook, that faggy sweater, neat and polite], he's the only one of the YGO boys who does not fall over drooling when Boobs McChesty arrives (and in fact often looks away with a near disgusted or just "..." face), desperately wants to get away from the fanclub of girls who follows him around and would far rather sit around with the guys and talk about games, says he's no good with girls and again makes that wonderful "my life, what is it" face when they're dragging him around the school, and in some shots, he looks like he's giving Yuugi the eyes (and in one spash page he seemed to be looking at Honda fondly while Honda seemed to have his hand on his rear *facepalms*)

So. Yeah. He does not at all care for the girls.

5.7/5.8ish for Mr. Kaplan has always been my call. Realistically speaking, he does not really have eyes for anyone but that boyfriend of his, but he was definitely gay pre-Teddy and would be gay if there ever was a post-Teddy. But he's also completely capable of finding girls really pretty and in very rare circumstances with a very rare lady, I could see him getting into a heterosexual relationship. It would just be a giant, unlikely statistical anomaly.

No, really. He just likes girls. If he meets a girl who is interested in him - especially if she needs saving - he gets very interested very fast. He has never shown any interest in other men - the two possible exceptions are this buddy from his gang days and Bruce Wayne. However, Bruce is sixty-three years older than Terry and takes the place of a father figure much more than an object of desire as far as I read the situation (though sob the fanfic authors certainly ship them), and Big Time and Terry seem mostly just to be friends. Good friends, but that doesn't mean Terry secretly Wants Him... and it's kind of a pet peeve of mine, this fad these days of reading Freudian motivations into every friendship. I certainly don't want to do everyone I'm good friends with.

Point is though that you could argue the case. *shrugs*

• I'm slapping Jaime in a happy medium of 0-1. It would be pretty 0 had he not been rooming with our magical kreeskrull boys, but 1 is the "well okay now I've been exposed to different lifestyles but...........can I have girls pls". To be quite honest, I'd put Sari as off the scale as robotsexual. I'm not even kidding on this one, because she spent most of her life away from normal kids her age. The only time she's seen with them is at her own birthday and she hates them because they aren't real friends and are just there because their parents work for her dad. She's honestly more interested in hanging out with Bumblebee and Bulkhead and rest of the gang than making googly eyes at boys/girls. Her only crush in game is on a humanized version of a robot lolcat (and Cybertronians don't really have genders so yeah).

Phoenix is a 1, if I have to stick him somewhere, but he's still going to call himself a 0, because that's how he rolls. His sexual/romantic encounters in game (and in my headcanon) are mostly women with one single guy mixed in there who was a special case and seven years ago before the whole disbarred thing and it's all been one night stands and flings since then because they all let him get away with it. As a lawyer, Phoenix was quite the romantic and very dedicated to the people he dated.
