Because icons aren't always the most accurate, tonight's not!meme asks you to describe your character's physical appearance. Height, weight, eye and hair color, build, distinguishing marks, etc. And if they've had any physical changes since arriving in the City (i.e., new robo-arm, sporting a rad eyepatch, suddenly becoming a human) you can share that as well!

Calendar Man is tall, bald pale white man in his early... forties? with tattoos around his head and heavily lidded eyes and a round sort of look. Sometimes he's drawn with really claw-like fingernails, but I prefer when they're long but not, y'know, bird claws. He dresses simply when not committing a crime. WORTHY OF NOTE: I take his appearance/characterization from Long Halloween which means he looks like ^ see icon and NOT like this, and he's definitely not 6"11 (IDEK). I would say that he looks SLIGHTLY older than his icons, due to a later pullpoint.

Monster in the Darkness' real appearance is unknown, but in the city he's a kid of about twelve-ish with weird taste in clothing, shaggy dark-brown/black hair, brown skin, ears that stick out, thick eyebrows, very slightly different sized yellow eyes, and a gap between his teeth. Somewhat chubby. He's cute but weird! (My reasoning for human monster gets a bit tl;dr, but the point is that I wanted him to be... off. Like, "okay, this kid is weird but okay)

Sandman is a big, tall, muscular white man with brown eyes and hair and NEVER CHANGES HIS CLOTHES (this is because he technically doesn't wear any - it's sand. I am not entirely sure why he can't use sand to make other outfits but WHATEVER), so he always wears the same striped green shirt and khaki pants. ALSO BRAND NEW HEADCANON: he never has to shave or cut his hair because sand.

Negotiator's alien form looks exactly like his icons BUT his human disguise is a tall hispanic man in his late thirties. Good looking, hooked nose, yellow eyes. Dresses in a black jacket and green shirt (or sometimes the reverse), with clean black slacks and shoes. Black gloves. Has a cane (it has a sword in it, not the one from canon, it didn't get imported with him :c).

All of the canon art of her looks silly, and all of the not-canon art isn't entirely accurate, so I took the liberty of combining the things I like about canon art with things I like in general YEAH SHH I'M A HUGE NERD. Except I forgot her necklace of swords and skulls, but then I always forget to write about it too, so I guess she... took it off somewhere in Central Park and it's still stuffed into some tree, waiting to be worn again.
And then in human form she's tall! And dark! In a perfect world I would have found a Middle Eastern PB, but Maria Ozawa just had the perfect haughty expressions, so I've gradually started leaning toward seeing her Asian-ish instead. Depending on mood, she's either slow, deliberate, and graceful, or sharp and overly hasty in her movements. The grace comes from trying to imitate how she moves as a dragon, and the (sometimes a tiny bit clumsy) hastiness is just... forgetting herself, and being not as familiar with her human shape. And of course, since dragons love their gems, she wears as much jewelry as can be considered tasteful, and sometimes a bit more than that.

And Carrie! She's still tiny (5'2"), flat-chested, and compact, and that'll be true no matter how old she gets in the City. Blue eyes, red hair, pale skin with no freckles. Her hair is always something between styled and plain old windswept, and she's usually posed for prime casual-cool. Her fashion is totally "blends in" when she's not in costume, usually with hoodies and jeans and converses.

She's picked up a few scars over the course of things here, though! Her legs are pretty scarred up from her first run-in with the Joker, and she's got a dozen small, fading ones from her hardcore training with Miho. And most recently she's down two outer toes! I'm sure by now she's already build things into all her shoes to compensate for that, but the balance part is a work in progress.

And I guess she religiously cuts her hair, because it's always in that style/length. Always.

Kurt is just ridiculous.

Marvel tells me Kurt is 5'9" and 161 lbs. Being a gymnast, he has a good build for a gymnast, and is well-muscled but not as bulky as a lot of superheroes tend to be, made for climbing and flipping and having lots of speed/agility.

He's pretty angular. Sharp chin, high cheek-bones, prominent nose, etc. He is covered in short, dark-blue fur! Which is apparently velvet-like to the touch and kind of a noticeably odd thing. He's also got glowy, yellow eyes, two-finger-and-a-thumb hands, two-toed feet with... a surplus toe-thingy on the heel sometimes maybe (this is a thing that artists can't agree on I guess), fangs, and a tail with a spade at the end (that can hold his weight and lift people, etc.).

Thanks to the dark fur and a ties to a dimensional rift, he's pretty much always shadowy-looking, or... The shadows on him are more prominent or whatnot. Also, he just kinda disappears in the dark. ~partial invisibility~

And nobody can figure out what his hair is doing, I swear. It started out curly, but lots of people also draw it straight. Some people will color it blue, others black. There is no consensus. I go with black and curly, but yeah. That and the extra toe-thing. There apparently is not a note defining that somewhere.

Renee Montoya: Renee's about 5'8", and ignoring the official weight because it's kind of bullshit, she's around 160/170 pounds of trim muscle. She's built compactly like a lightweight boxer. Not much of a curvy shape, but she's quite happy with her athletic body. She's a Latina with dark brown eyes and long, dark, curly hair that is usually tied back in a ponytail. Most of her clothing is sporty or menswear— the only time she's worn a dress was when she was undercover. As the Question, she favors a full suit with a fedora she stole off of Vic.

Probably has various scars from just living a very active lifestyle and being a cop turned vigilante.

Tom Riddle (who is now 17!) is described numerous times (read: every single time he's in a scene as Tom Riddle) as being tall, pale, and very handsome, with jet-black wavy hair and dark eyes. He has fairly long, thin fingers, though they aren't bony just yet, and a fairly thin but fit frame. Because his soul is no longer whole, occasionally when he's feeling a particularly strong emotion like anger or desire, his eyes will get a red tint or gleam to them. The CoS movie did a marvellous job with their casting, so my Tom does indeed look a lot like Christian Coulson.

Having a good appearance is important to him to make a good impression on people, so he's very neat and clean, every hair in place and no wrinkles in his clothes, and he very rarely looks truly "casual". He grew up in the Muggle world, so he has a pretty good sense of Muggle fashion, even if it is late 20s to early 40s Muggle fashion (which looks classy in any era really). Now that he's been in the City a while, he's managed to accumulate a fairly decent wardrobe of nice slacks, button-up shirts, waist-coats, and nice sweater-vests (and a couple new robes because he can't wear his school robes all the time). Mostly through excellent money management, magic, and flattering the right people. Most of clothes tend to be darker colors, blacks, or dark grays, with the exception of the button-up shirts, which are mostly white (because it is seriously impossible to find dark green button-ups I have looked). So he pretty much looks like this all the time, because his idea of dressing down is a sweater-vest instead of a waistcoat.

Tom has a quiet, relaxed demeanour most of the time, almost arrogantly relaxed--he's very confident in himself and his abilities. He's very good at making a person feel comfortable in his presence (so long as that person does know what he's really like, like the whole Pottercast). When he walks into a room and wants people to be aware of it, or if he just wants people aware of him in general, he'll project more of an in-charge type demeanour, but he's also very good at being unassuming and slipping into the background. His expressions tend to be small and seem more an impression of whatever feeling than really there. Generally, what he wants you to see is what you will see. Unless he's really shaken-up/off-balance; then he has considerably less control over himself and tends to make bigger, more truthful expressions.

Oh yeah, also, he twirls his wand in his fingers or taps it on things or just fiddles with it when he's feeling particularly confident or thoughtful. Or both. And usually if he's twirling it, it's with one hand, not two like Coulson was trying to do in the movie. It's a habit he'll eventually grow out of, but for now there it is.

Kiryu (age 23, almost 24) is about 5'11" and pretty skinny and he looks a lot like Kamenashi Kazuya except with gold-colored eyes and very light blue hair that's just past shoulder length that he usually keeps up in a ponytail. He dresses a lot like Kame too, except in darker colors/a lot more blues and blacks, so he has pretty nice casual clothes and even nicer dress clothes for work. He also has the pretty ugly looking yellow tattoo on the right side of his face which is in most of his icons. Assuming he looks "real" in the City, the tattoo isn't outlined, it's just a yellow line. (Also, if anyone ever bothered to scan it, it has some sort of nanotech in it that has a record of basically his whole life.)

When he's in Dark Signer mode, he looks like so (aka reddish-black sclera and the mark of his face turns blood red), although he has figured out how to change only himself and leave his clothes alone, and his hair is still long obviously. I only have a few icons of him DSed and with long hair unfortunately, because they are a pain to edit, but yeah.

Also he has this mark on his arm that glows purple when he's using his powers and is otherwise that dark purple color. And he is ridiculously pale. He can't tan. He went through a Western arc and ended up even paler than before. (Speaking of, he came back looking like this and he has an affinity for more Western-styled clothing now. And he has more than one coat like that one.)

He has a fairly casual but still commanding presence--he's a leader, but he's the type of leader who's more like your friend than your boss. He naturally walks fairly quickly but with fairly medium length strides, but he'll often just stroll along too. And he's pretty graceful, but also still kind of jerky in his movements.

Tony is listed with marvel as 6'1, and 225 pounds. Which is sadly as close to realism as marvel could possibly get. He has dark, clean cut hair, but it's not really all that short, he keeps it at about an inch and a half to two inches long, shorter when freshly cut, longer before he gets it cut. Unless...he's getting a perm.... which we ignore that ok? ok. Uh, he does not look that much like RDJ, but is instead much taller, beefier, but he has currently taken to wearing a goatee instead of a mustache! Even though I...keep icons of the stache because you can't ignore that glorious history and half the time it's one or the other. He's extremely fit, a lot of his weight is in his pecs/biceps, and when some artists draw him, his thighs (ooh adi granov ooh). He has blue eyes (blue, marvel, not brown) and does not have any scars or anything since gaining the extremis virus! He instead has a trail of small holes down his spine, three at the base of his head, one on each pec, one on each bicep and forearm, and one on each thigh and calf, although those are never shown, I think it makes sense. I imagine the thigh ones are on the outside if you follow the trail of his fingers, and the calf ones would be on the backs!

As for clothing, he prefers expensive, well-cut suits, nice shoes, ties. If he's "casual" it's generally dark (Very occasionally khakis) and white button ups. Uh, if he's working in the lab by himself, it's either in his Iron Man suit, or in stretchy, form-fitting shorts and a tight tee. He sleeps naked, and doesn't wear underwear. (Yes, this is canon. Heh.

Iron Man looks like this, and his underarmor applies at a thought!

Mitchell

Mitchell looks to be of a decent height, but we never get a very good distinct one, I assume about 5'11, and probably about 170 pounds! He's not overweight, but he's also not as active as he used to be, and it shows! Mitch has brown hair, that I think probably lightens and darkens depending on how much sun he's gotten. He's got pretty bright green eyes, and damn that boy has a prominent nose and chin. Also some pretty...uh... thick lips. (he's sure got a pretty mouth)

Anyway, along the left side of his face, down his neck on that side and then down along his shoulder and to his left arm, and also on his right arm and up to the right side of his neck, he has something that kind of looks like circuitry on his skin. This is all that's left visible after his plastic surgery (it used to be worse) and it glows pretty bright if he uses his powers!

Generally, you'll find him in a suit because he works all of the time, and he likes nice suits. If he's actually off duty (which is rare) he's found in generally jeans and white undershirts.

Oh Ozzie. According to DC, he's 5'2, and weighs 175 pounds. Physically, Ozzie is short, stout, and overweight. He loves indulging, and it kind of shows. He has black hair that's generally slicked back, no facial hair, and he has an extremely prominent nose. He carries most of his weight in his stomach.

Generally, he's always dressed in fine, well-tailored suits, or tuxedos (lol penguin) and keeps a monocle, top hat, and always smokes his cigarettes with a cigarette holder! Generally he wears gloves too, and he's never without an umbrella c:

But I place Eridan as built like his ancestor, which is to say like a brick shithouse. Or has the capability to end up that way, when he gets a little older. He's a little tall for his age (5'6? 5'7?? ???) and stocky, and while he's put on a little bit of extra weight from all that lounging around sipping espresso and arguing with hipsters, he's somewhat recently started making an effort to go lean again. In human form he's white, with your standard stereotypical upper class looks - strong jaw, romanesque, etc. he's had his nose broken a couple of times so you can probably tell if you're staring.... at his nose........... but he always took care to make it heal back up as straight as possible because he's incredibly vain, so. there's that.

And he's got a cleft chin, it's canon.

In troll form he's got the normal yellow sclera/grey irises combination, though they're starting to fill in with magenta because trolls sure are weird you guys!! In human form his irises are already that big fat mary sue color. And as a troll, he's got a mouthful of shark-lookin' teeth. And he's scarred all to fuck from all his dueling shit/stepping in bear traps/etc., as well as getting hacked in half that one time and nearly slit in two that other time. He's got another bad one on his face that he's positive makes him look really tough.

His style of dress is disgustingly hipster, and mostly in purples and dark blues (with the occasional green accent). And scarves. Scarves everywhere. Since Eridan is sentimental 5ever, it's really mostly the scarf Eddie gave him when there's little risk of it getting destroyed, which is hideous and green/purple and he wears it everywhere. That and the birthday present Ruka gave to him the particular type of jewelry I cannot remember right now but it was engraved and Aquarius-y and he adores it, okay. He likes to have some bit of Aquarius on him at all times.

Gretel doesn't really get a description in her canon. We do know that her brother is suppose to have startlingly beautiful blue eyes and that Gretel does not. So I decided that she has dark colored eyes. I also decided dark hair simply because the mental image I had of her when reading was a little girl with dark, curly hair.

For the most part Gretel looks like a paler Lina Lendersson, aka like her appearance in Let the Right One In. Lina's height at the time of the movie was 5'2, but I'd say Gretel's about 5 foot even. It's still in the upper range of height for an 11 year old but I imagine Gretel as someone slightly taller than her peers. Average weight for that height is usually between 95 and 110 pounds, but I'd peg Gretel as somewhere in the low 90s simply because of poor nutrition habits.

Gretel isn't conventionally a 'cute' child, she's more quirky looking than pretty. She's got bushy eyebrows and her hair is usually wild and frizzy. She hasn't yet hit puberty. She's kind of awkward in the way she carries herself, not clumsy, but that sort of off that makes you think 'what an awkward looking kid'.

Gretel does have a large scar on her right ankle from being bitten by her former master's familiar. It won't be noticeable until summer hits and she starts wearing shorter pants and sandals. As any kid, she also has lot's of small scars from playing and probably has one or two bruises at any given time just from normal activities.

She pretty much wears whatever she can get her hands on. Gretel prefers warmer colors, like red, and usually prefers pants or shorts to dresses. She likes her hair down, but due to Australian summers, wears it up a lot in ponytails/braids/buns/ect. She doesn't do pig tails. In the winter she tends to wear hats, mostly horribly colored beanies.

Jessica Drew -- Jess is pretty much Peter translated into a woman exactly. her stats put her at 5'5" and 132 lbs which i actually pretty much agree with!! shes definitely mostly muscle so she weighs a little more than most girls her age. she has Peter's face exactly, so round chin, slightly fat cheeks, and large eyes. the only notable differences between her and Peter are that her lips are a little rosier than his. she's pretty androgynous and can often be mistaken for being a few years younger than she actually is. her hair is huge. i dont care what canon says, her hair is fucking huge. thats why i personally think that Rafa Sandoval draws her best. her hair is parted in the middle and is basically huge, brown, and fluffy, going down to right above her mid-back or so. she has a very wiry build, lean and thin, but she has muscle. also something notable for her is that her fingers are long and slender, like a piano players. she doesnt have a lot of curves though and shes canonly a b-cup!! her body is also covered in scars.

Rose Lalonde -- since Rose is a Homestuck character, this is all headcanon. shes about 5'1" - 5'2" with a very round face and large eyes. her eyes are her font colour -- a light lavender colour, and her hair is a very light, almost platinum blonde. her hair is cut short with lots of layers, bangs that taper to a point and all of it frames her face. her hair comes down to about the middle of her neck. she has thin lips and always wears black lipstick and her eyelashes are very large and thick. her skin is very, very pale which generally makes her eyes pop because of it. she weighs about 90 lbs or so, and she has a very dancer sort of frame in that shes thin with long limbs even though shes not very tall as well as being around an a cup.

Jennifer Walters -- oh... oh jesus. ok uh, official stats say that shes about 6'7" -- 7'.... which... makes no sense so i always play her at a flat 7'. she weighs around 700 lbs though, and all of it is muscle. all of it. she has rather sharp, angled features with a thin nose and high cheekbones. shes also green. shes an emerald green with her lips a darker green and her eyes a notable, almost unnatural green. her hair is huge. its thick, layered and comes to her back. it frames her face and just seems everywhere while still appearing rather well-kept and stylish.

shes broad. she has broad shoulders, very muscular arms and does not have huge breasts. shes has the body of someone who works out, not some pinup lady. shes about a C cup or so. she has rock-hard abs and very good curves because her bodys supposed to be idealized!! personally, the way John Byrne draws her will always be how she looks in my head.n though i dont mind how Adam Hughes draws her either.

Jennifer Walters on the other hand, is a slight 5'7". canon says that she's 5'10" and i honestly do not agree whatsoever because shes supposed to be tiny. and especially since shes supposed to be 140 lbs at 5'10"??? uh... no. so shes 5'7" and 140 lbs. shes supposed to be unremarkable in every way so shes very thin and doesnt have any outstanding curves. she does work out a little though!! so theres some muscle in her arms and legs, but nothing impressive. she has short brown hair that falls right around her shoulders. her hairs split in the middle and it generally imitates Shulkies bangs in that there are shorter locks that frames her cheeks and its a little layered. her face is round and shares similar features with Shulkie, but she has the same nose and chin. theres a bit of baby fat there though. the only interesting thing about her is that her eyes are still the same unnatural green colour.

i dont really have a preference with how Jen is drawn but i kind of like how Ryan Stegman draws her

Pietro is right at 6 foot, and on the slender side for a superhero! He's somewhere around 175lbs, which is not... Under weight, but it's very hard for him to build muscle, and since he's literally constantly in motion, nigh impossible for him to get fat. Thus, his features are very angular, and he has a kind of... Stereotypical Eastern European gauntness about him? His hair is wavy and always windblown and silver, but not really white. His eyes are very, very blue and he has excellent eyelashes.

People who know Wanda will know that they look a lot alike. They're not identical twins, but bone structure-wise, you can definitely tell they're related.

My favorite artist for Pietro is probably John Buscema, but that is taking it back. I didn't hate Olivier Coipel, during HoM, for something a little more modern.

Stephen is 6'3 and also a little on the slender side. While Pietro wears it as gaunt, Stephen comes across as tall and lanky. When he was younger, it was awkward, but now he's just sort of used to it, and dresses and moves in a way that lets you know he's used to it. He also has slightly angular features and deep set eyes. His hair is dark, except for some white/graying around the temples and he has "mysterious gray eyes" that get referenced a lot in the 70s. His distinguishing marks include hideous scars all over his hands, which is why he's usually seen wearing gloves, even in civvies.

Artist-wise, I really liked Dan Green on Into Shamballa.

Jason is either 6'1 or 6'2 and really big. He's spent years training (literally since he was 15) and it shows. He's not ROIDRAGE crazy built, but it's there and just... Present. According to the DC online stuff, he weighs somewhere around 225lbs. He has no notable scars outside of a (very well set, but obvious once) broken nose. Huzzah for the lazarus pits, I guess.

To the casual observer, he has dark, jet black hair. This is a lie. He's actually got reddish/auburn hair that he dyes regularly (unrealistically regularly, but uhh comics). His eyes are very light blue, almost gray.

Physically and movement-wise, he bears the most resemblance to Bruce, just because of height and build. But even then, you can tell they're not related after the initial BLUE EYES DARK HAIR thing.

Jeremy Haun is my favorite artist for Jason, even though that puts him a little younger than my chosen pull point.

Doom is also 6'2 and 225lbs. He has auburn hair, a very strong brow, and super green eyes. He's a different kind of Eastern European stereotype from Pietro, but still he's got the "very Balkan very stoic" thing going on. Build-wise, he um... Takes care of himself. He's extremely fit and walks with extreme confidence because he is Doom and you are not.

However... As most people know, Victor was in an accident (self-made accident, really) in college and a later incident (when he finished his armor). Together, they left his face severely disfigured. Think the Phantom of the Opera, but all over. He does not let people look at his face. Ever.

In armor, Doom stands at somewhere around 6'7. It probably also varies slightly by the version of his armor he's wearing this week.

Annnnd... More recently, I liked Steve Epting drawing Doom in the new FF.

Clu is 6'1", pretty fit/athletic/in shape, and looks to be around his mid-thirties. He has brown hair (always ~neatly~ smoothed back) and blue eyes. The pupils of his eyes are, actually, hexagonal (pic isn't his, but just a canon example). He used to have perma-stubble (thanks to Flynn creating him without shaving first :|), but I suppose now that he's more human that he can shave it off. He also stands fairly straight and proud, and people probably get a very militaristic-vibe from his posture.

He wears his program suit (skin-tight and part-armor) and will always have his disc at his back. The suit also has a helmet that can form and dissolve away at will. Anddddd it isn't strictly canon, but the circuit pattern that you see on the suit is mirrored beneath it onto his actual skin.

feferi is human, I just don't have terribly many icons of this! I picture her at about 5'2", and quite stocky. she's not big, but she's athletic, she's got good muscle tone. if you tried to push her she would probably not fall over.

she's mixed-race; she has dark skin and hair (which is additionally quite long and wavy), but her eyes and blood are still magenta-colored. while in the city she has taken to some human fashions, but they mostly reflect what she wore back on alternia: bright colors and long, flowy fabric that's easy to move around in. she also still wears a lot of jewelry! she likes bling, she collects glittery bracelets and necklaces and shit like a magpie. if you ran into her on the street you would probably think she is from some hippie collective.

she also still has gillslits on her sides and mild webbing between her fingers and toes, which is not immediately noticeable if you're not looking. no more fins or horns though :(
