Cape and Cowl: The Trading Card Game 3.0

As claimed, it’s the third C&C Trading Card Game meme! Once again, the rules and master document are up here.

This meme is for creating, sharing, and discussing new cards and decks for the C&C card game. These can be cards for current or past characters, events, places in the City, NPCs, memes, or any other part of Cape and Cowl you would like to see included in this game!

Former player Britt is a flawless person and has actually made up a downloadable template for editing your own card images- you can see the results of her work here. The colour code is Blue = Hero, Gray = Anti-Hero, Yellow = Civilian, Green = Government/City Hall, Orange = Anti-Villain, Red = Villain, Black = City and Event cards. The previous meme is here for reference.

-If you are making a card image, please also fill out one of the forms below for card text so the details can be added to the card master list! If you don’t want to make an image, go ahead and fill out the form anyway and an image may be made for you!

Older card images are available on Google Drive, and also on the Tumblr. Iola has also prepared an album of Event cards.

Thanks to Iola and Dalrint, there are also organized master text lists for Character, City and Event cards.

-Many older cards have been modified from their initial draft to conform to rule updates or to clarify wording. When there’s a contradiction between what a card image says and what the list says, generally go with what’s written on the master list.

As claimed, it's the return of the Cape and Cowl TCG! The rules of the game are here. Make cards, post them, praise each other’s work, discuss and react! The goal of this meme is to make lots and lots of cards, have fun adapting the setting to something new, and maybe come up with a neat playable game out of it!

I'd like to thank Britt for all the image stuff, Iola and Zoe for helping with playtesting and checking the new rules, and Theo for proofreading the final rules post. This meme is dedicated to AJ, who had a big role helping this project, especially playing out fun test matches.

So without further ado, let’s make some cards! Brit is a flawless person and has actually made up a downloadable template for editing your own card images. The colour code is Blue = Hero, Gray = Anti-Hero, Yellow = Civilian, Green = City Hall, Orange = Anti-Villain, Red = Villain, Black = City/Event cards.

-Note: Make sure you’re brief but precise in your card descriptions! Specify if an ability if passive, if cards are discarded from the field or from the hand, if City effects take hold right away etc. Trust me on this, it comes up a lot in playtesting. By default, descriptions refer to cards currently in play and City effects take hold the same turn the card is played.

-Other note: multiple version of the same card are allowed and encouraged. Example, if you think you’ve got another idea for a Jack Bauer card, go ahead and make Jack Bauer (2.0). Cards from the last meme can be used in play, adjusted for the new rules. If you want a card made for something but can't think of how it should be, just volunteer them in this thread and someone will get on it for you. There is also this thread for people who actually want to try playing this thing.

Remember how I went on a trip the other week? Well, I had a lot of time on my hands on the plane and at the airport, and I ended up writing a C&C story on the way. It's from an NPC cop's point of view, and I decided I ought to share it with the community.

for those who are new to the game or haven't played it, here's the newbie guide! feel free to hit up me (inhereDITARE) or kirsten (netsrikeel2) on AIM if you have any questions or would like explaining or something.

we'll be making a main chat to set up games and whatnot. i'll be there about half an hour before things officially "start" if you guys need me.

and for the people who don't get what ic mafia means, it's basically the game mafia as a certain character. ie, you would be roleplaying while playing. (so for example, i would be playing Rose as if she was playing mafia herself. all of her responses and the way she types would be accurate to canon.)

you'll need to have an account at epicmafia to play, and you're free to make an account for the character you're roleplaying as! but for the most part, please at least have your icon as your character so it makes it easier to tell everyone apart.

TvTropes is a wiki dedicated to compiling and cataloging the various tropes, devices, and conventions present in various forms of fiction- including Livejournal roleplay. And it's been quite a while since we had a meme devoted to said website! So it's time for:

So one day I got the idea for a fic to write Laih to show her my love and appreciation and etcetera. So I wrote it, and it wound up being a bit more extensive and involving more characters than I originally envisioned. Accordingly, once I finished it and ran it by Laih, I decided I might as well put it up here for you guys. I hope you like it!

Two things:

FIRST, TO WHATEVER LOVELY ANON FAIRY IS RESPONSIBLE: THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE ICONS. I appreciate them tremendously and shall try to use them well. :D

Second: So Terry is just here, is sort of 8| at suddenly being somewhere he doesn't know without the old guy and the computer who knows everything, so he's trying to be the best Batman he can be. Which involves lots and lots of reading/watching/listening. Because HEY, research makes the man, right?

Or it does if it's Batman.

And he's new at the job, which makes him nervous which makes him overcompensate because he doesn't want to make any mistakes and die, and....

The point is that he's gonna be hyper-responsible for the first little while, and so will be doing his research. And he'll probably make it through at least 6 months worth of back-dated stuff, after he settles down and starts studying properly (after a while he might decide that he's doing well enough without doing this stuff and if he keeps up his head will explode and THEN where will he be and so not make it back to the beginning, and he'll probably skim before that) but I... really don't want to read through all the posts and 89 thousand comments that he would. So um.

Help me Cape and Cowl-kenobi, you're my only hope. What are some things he would know? @_@

EDIT: Eeeeeee thank you everyone who's already posted. AS A SIDE NOTE that I should have posted earlier: He'll be paying a lot more attention to people who are or were villains, who associate with villains, have committed crimes, gone crazy and murdered someone ETC than he will to just your normal hero types.

Because. Well. They're the potential threat here. ~~Unlike Bruce he's not gonna build a contingency plan for each and every hero in the city and how to take them down should they go evil he's not that OCD.~~ He'd likely know who the heros were as well, but won't care quite so much.
